Financial Intermediaries

September 30, FRI  /  11:30 - 13:00

The global economic model is changing; we witness the rise of a new era of capitalism. This is a new updated version of how business can promote the systemic change we need, a capitalism that works for everyone.

Sustainable finance is critical to facilitating an orderly and equitable transition to a green, more sustainable economy and an inclusive society in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement.

From the results of the Ecumene 2021 Sustainable Finance Congress, we conclude that environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues are becoming increasingly relevant. But achieving goals such as a carbon-free economy and equitability will require the support of financial institutions. What's more, companies have realized that integrating ESG criteria into business solutions goes beyond just improving sustainability, as it also increases organizations' profits.

The industrial and financial landscape of the world has changed dramatically over the past few years. The financial sector wants to take the lead in achieving carbon neutrality.

We observe a titanic shift in capital. We are facing a tremendous scale and scope of capital reallocation, a shift to strategies more closely related to climate risks.

Leading the business community toward a carbon-neutral economy will require a new approach to financing.

The discussion session will include the following questions:

  • Role and objectives of financial intermediaries;
  • Key players in the financial system, their goals and objectives;
  • The financial component of the climate agenda;
  • The regulator’s position;
  • Financial intermediaries as key agents of Russia's achievement of carbon neutrality.
